Tina Dabi IAS UPSC Journey

Tina Dabi secured All India Rank 1 in the Civil Services Examination 2015, and UPSC declared the final result on 10 May 2016. It was her first attempt, and her optional subject was Political Science and International Relations.

In a May 2016 interview with Gulf News, Dabi said she had deactivated her Facebook account during preparation to stay focused. She also mentioned that her optional subject dominated her 45-minute personality test.

At the time of her result, Dabi said she had chosen Haryana as her preferred cadre because of the low number of working women there. She was allotted the Rajasthan cadre, and because her training began in 2016, she belongs to the 2016 batch.

In 2016, major media outlets reported that she was the first Dalit candidate to top the examination. Dabi later told The Hindu that the day after her result, media messages began asking about her caste because her surname sounded unfamiliar. Her final score of 1,063 equals 52.49 percent of the maximum marks.
