Kashish Mittal Early Life and Education
Kashish Mittal was born on 29 July 1989 in Jalandhar, Punjab.
He developed an interest in Hindustani classical music at a young age and began training under Professor Harvinder Singh. He later became a disciple of Pandit Yashpal of the Agra Gharana.
Mittal studied at Yadvindra Public School in Patiala and Government Model Senior Secondary School in Chandigarh. He completed his B.Tech in Computer Science from IIT Delhi in 2010.

Why Did Kashish Mittal Resign From IAS?
Kashish Mittal resigned from the Indian Administrative Service in September 2019.
At the time, reports linked his resignation to a proposed transfer from NITI Aayog to Arunachal Pradesh.
Mittal later explained in a 2025 interview that his decision was not mainly about transfers or politics. He wanted to give more time to music and pursue interests outside the civil services.
His resignation brought an end to around eight years in the IAS.
